The Spirits

I won’t lie, a unique liquor bottle will always spark my interest and then I’m bound to give it a try. Throw it up to my design background, I have a love for simple or quirky design. I appreciate the thought and consideration that goes into a well designed label and overall packaging for booze-y products.

Enter, Backwards Distilling.

“Backwards Distilling Company was born of an appreciation for fine spirits and a propensity for the unusual. The founders of Backwards have always sought those aspects of the world that are unique, that have a little bit of quirk, that fall outside the norm. In that spirit, the Pollock family imagined a brand that would reflect and celebrate these traits. Backwards Distilling Company is proud to present our colorful cast of characters, Ringleader Vodka, Sword Swallower Rum, Contortionist Gin, and Strongman Gin.”

Contortionist Gin

bright - lively - citrus - approachable

So I grabbed at the chance to try their Contortionist Gin. Great bottle - good start. Tasty gin - great finish. To test my newest booze baby, I opened up Maggie Hoffman's The One Bottle Cocktail book and was intrigued by her Gin Rocket. All it took was my new bottle of gin and local ingredients from our next door Trader Joe’s. Easy peasey!
