Artisans & Desk Accessories

Store clay artisans in a cool and dry place to prevent unwanted scratches or breakage. Furthermore, you can store artisans in a box with a lid to help prevent dust from gathering, but do note that not all “artisan boxes” will accommodate their height.

To clean your artisan, wipe lightly with a super soft brush (I dust mine with a clean, soft makeup brush). If there is excess dust to remove, you can gently hand-wash your artisan with mild soap, water, and brush. Avoid using chemicals, solvents, perfume, lotions or any aerosol products near your artisan as that can damage the piece.

Keep out of direct sunlight for extended periods of time to avoid fading and damage from heat.

These artisans are most prone to damage when installing or removing from a keyboard. When installing, push down on the dense parts of the florals. When removing, I recommend to remove artisans with your fingers, wiggling at the base to gently release it from the switch. Removing surrounding keycaps nearby may allow your fingers to get lower on the keycap. Be mindful of overhanging and fragile elements so your fingers don’t slip and break them off - try to keep those fingers on the base. DSA profile keycaps can be more tricky since there is less of a base to grip.

Keycap pullers can be useful, but the metal legs can easily ding/nick overhanging elements so I don’t recommend using these unless you need to. Place a protective finger on the flowers when removing with a puller.

Do not drop your artisan on hard surfaces. If the clay hits the surface, your artisan will break.

Each Jesmonite desk accessory is hand-poured, sanded, and finished with a natural wax to protect and allow for easy cleaning. A cork backing is added to help prevent scuffs and scratches on surfaces.

You can clean desk accessories with a soft cloth and gentle soap. Please clean dirt and liquids away as soon as possible to help prevent any unwanted staining.

You can re-wax the product again if you start to notice the natural wax wearing off. I use Clark’s Stone & Concrete Wax.

Avoid harsh chemicals. Not dishwasher or microwave safe.

If dirty, clean with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth.

Remember to keep resin artisans out of direct sunlight. The sun and other UV lighting can yellow the cured resin.

Artisan stem to tight? Let the artisan soak in warm water for a few minutes, dry it, and try again.
